MSD of Mount Vernon Posey County:
Where Pride Meets Possibility

Nestled in southwest Indiana’s Posey County, the Metropolitan School District of Mount Vernon is a small, rural district rooted in pride and driven by a clear vision for the future. With five schools across four campuses, we offer a close-knit, community-centered experience where students are known, supported, and inspired to thrive.

Our intentionally small class sizes and outstanding student-to-teacher ratios create an environment where personalized instruction and meaningful relationships fuel both academic success and personal growth. Students benefit from a wide range of opportunities—including Advanced Placement and dual credit courses, competitive E-Sports and Robotics, and award-winning fine arts programs in choir, theater, and band.

Athletics are a point of pride, with strong programs and excellent facilities that promote health, teamwork, and school spirit. At the elementary level, our nearly 90% IREAD pass rate reflects our commitment to building a strong foundation in literacy and lifelong learning.

Mount Vernon is a small town with big values. Here, families find a strong sense of connection, dedicated educators, and a community that works together to provide exceptional education and opportunity. At MSD of Mount Vernon, your child isn’t just a student—they’re part of a family.
