Meet the Principal
My name is Katie Bushard, and I am honored to serve the students and staff of Marrs Elementary, which is known across the state for its dedication to children and commitment to education. Since 2013, I've had the privilege of working in various roles within the MSD of Mount Vernon. I began my principalship at Marrs in 2020, and I thoroughly enjoy working with this community. I earned my bachelor's degree in Secondary English Education and later went on to receive my degree in Administrative Leadership in 2019 from Ball State University. I have teaching experience at every level and enjoy working with children in a variety of capacities. I strive to foster collaborative school, parent, and community partnerships in an effort to build a supportive educational ecosystem. It is important to me that everyone who steps onto our campus feels respected and valued. I believe in celebrating student success—big or small!
When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Eric, and our two children, Huck and Mae. We enjoy outdoor activities, traveling, camping, and trying new restaurants.
I look forward to another great school year! My door is always open to you as we work together to make your child’s school experience the best one yet!
